GUVI raises 1 crore from Gray Matters Capital (SLP Chennai, 2016)

Founded by SLP Fellow Arun Prakash, GUVI is an online platform where students learn to code in Vernacular Indian languages.

Wit the funding support, GUVI will be able to reach a target of 1 million coders by 2020 through expansion of the company’s video content offerings in vernacular languages. This will entail tapping into more partners such as engineering colleges in geos beyond Tamil Nadu as well as swelling up corporate recruiters leading to improved employability of engineering graduates.

Gray Matters Capital edLABS believes that start-ups like GUVI can impart programming skills through videos in regional languages to engineering freshers beyond metro cities. This will not just improve employment prospects, but will also potentially pave the way for more technology start-ups to emerge from Tier II and III centres as coding becomes a critical skill to possess for product efficacy.
