Basil Darwish is Senior VP of Citi Ventures, corporate VC unit of Citigroup. Basil’s day job is venture investor with Citibank’s global venturing and innovation arm. Basil is passionate about leveraging technology and analytics in use cases that aim to disrupt the financial services industry, and thus exploring various ideas torease efficiency in corporate procurement and B2B payments across certain industry supply chain verticals. Earlier in his career, Basil spent seven years in the technology industry in various positions along the value chain, from semiconductor design, product development, to system integration. While at Analog Devices, Basil was part of the product team that launched the award-winning Blackfin line of DSP processors. Basil started his career as a digital design engineer along with a team of entrepreneurs at Chinook Communications, a telecom startup that emerged out of MIT. Basil has an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, an M.Sc. in EE from Tufts University, and a B.Sc. from the University of Jordan.
